Could you explain the exact rules of using art (not stock images) please? I'm not just referring to fanart, but I am curious about that as well. I looked in the shop owner rules and couldn't find anything about it, which is why I'm asking here. I've seen some people credit, others not credit, and I was curious what your requirements were for that.

When using various artwork, credit is appreciated since it gives a little nod to the artist and allows people to find them online if they want to have a better look at the artwork. Credit is not required at the moment though, since it can be difficult to keep track of who uses it and who doesn't. So to sum it up - awesome if you can credit, but we won't beat you up if you don't. :)

I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not (which probably means it isn't XD) but I'm throwing it out here.

Since all four houses are either at their shop limit or very close, I was wondering if maybe it were possibly to tighten rules regarding time between postings, or time allowed for a hiatus. I know there are people waiting in line for Hufflepuff shops, and I'm sure the same is probably true for other houses as well. And since I doubt you would be able to extend the amount of shops allowed, I feel this may be a good alternative. It would allow for more filtering of the shops and allow for those waiting to also have their change as a shop owner.

I hope I explained this okay. XD

We're currently working on making shop sweeps up-to-date, and we're keeping track of all the shops that are currently on hiatus. Unfortunately, we also feel that it would be unfair to lessen the amount of time people can go on hiatus for with their shops, which is 2 months. We are however working on keeping better track of shops to make sure this time is not taken advantage of.

If more people want to apply for shops and the shop limit becomes a problem, we will consider expanding it, but at the moment there are only a few people in the queue, and many shops have also lately closed, or are in the process of closing, and shop slots are opening up pretty quickly. If this problem continues to persist, we will make sure to give people the opportunity they need to open more shops, either by shortening the hiatus period or expanding the 14 shop limit. But this is the beginning of a new term and there are bound to be many people who are closing/opening shops, so things might seem a bit more chaotic than usual. :) Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Hey, guys! I have an odd question. XD

I've had a couple people ask if they could use my tiny icons for their own rosters, and it got me thinking that I could offer customized ones for other club leaders. The ones I've made so far look like this:

They're tiny, yes, but that actually makes them MORE difficult than a slightly larger graphic, I think.

My question is: How many points would I get for these little guys? :O

Hey there! Just letting you know that me and Jackie are currently disussing this, and as soon as we come up with a reasonable amount of points you can get for these mini-icons, we'll let you know! :D

Hey Kai! We've discussed this and we believe that your graphics fall under the icon category, so we'll award you 4 points for each of them. :) Hope this is alright with you!

So just to be explicit about the Hogsmeade sigtag limit, the maximum amount that some one can order for points from one shop is 25? 20 tags for themselves and 5 gift tags?

I have a question and a suggestion.

Question: The new rules post for Hogsmeade says that the deliveries must take place before the Hogsmeade Weekend ends.

In the past, I've made my deliveries on Monday, which is after Hogsmeade ends, but not that long afterward. Part of the reason is due to the large amount of orders, but also because I was receiving new orders, even on the last day of Hogsmeade. (I'd also like to point out that this doesn't include orders of more than 20 per person, so I doubt that the limit would affect the amount of tags I'd have to produce that much.)

Is there any way we can have a cushion on when tags must be delivered? Thanks.

Now for the suggestion:

I've found it to be somewhat frustrating to make hundreds of tags that very few people pick up during Hogsmeade because all of the deliveries are made to one post. I also think the amount of comments gets out of control and is very slow to load. So my suggestion would be to allow shop owners to post their own delivery post, whether in [info]hogsmeadewkends or even here, at [info]hh_flourish. That way, everyone receives their tags, and I'm sure it would be easier on you guys for tallying points & verifying compliance (since you don't have to expand hundreds of comments & threads). Anyway, I hope this suggestion is useful!

Thanks!

The rule on when the deliveries must be posted at Hogsmeade is more of a guideline really since we don't want shopkeepers delivering their signatures several days after the event, that would just be unfair to those who keep their deliveries on time. We are however understanding of the large amount of orders that have to be filled very quickly, and posting your deliveries on, say, Monday is completely acceptable. :)

As for your suggestion - we're hoping that the newly set limit will help with this, and hopefully it should also reduce the amount of comments in which shopkeepers can post their deliveries in the Flourish Hogsmeade thread. In the past, several shopkeepers have taken to simply making public Photobucket accounts for their customers, and that is something I personally intend on doing for my own Hogsmeade deliveries in the future.

I'll discuss this with Jackie, but I think that allowing shopkeepers to make delivery posts during Hogsmeade would be a bit too overwhelming, considering that during Hogsmeade Weekends Livejournal friends list are spammed with so many contest posts, etc. And it would be just as easy for people to miss those posts there as anywhere else. At least in the Flourish Delivery post they are all in one place, yes? :) I'm sorry that some of your deliveries do not get picked up, it's something I can certainly symphatize with, but there's nothing much we can do about that. When it comes to deliveries I'd suggest Photobucket accounts - and if all else fails, me and Jackie will discuss this and see what we come up with. :)

Thank you for your input!

Hey I just wanted some clarification. I read both Elaine's suggestion post and Sas' post and I guess I'm a little confused :-/

Question: Say a puff orders from a gryff shop, the only thing that's changed is if that same gryff shop gets orders from a gryff, snake and claw at the same time they are eligible for the 50 bonus points but they don't get any extra points for those tags right?

I think reading both when I'm on medication was not a very good idea for me lol sorry :-/

Hi! Just as a clarification: What was written in Elaine's post were suggestions that were made during the survey. Some suggestions were taken onboard; some weren't. Whatever changes have been made to [info]hh_flourish, all can be found in Sas' post of community changes. :)

As for the Flourish Shop of the Month - yes, you're right. A Gryffindor shop, for example, would need to get orders from all four Houses to be eligible for this award, including its own House. The same goes for all the other shops and all other Houses. :) We will give the award to the shop who has accumulated the most orders from all four Houses every month. I hope that makes sense!

I have some questions regarding Sas's post in the main community

When Sas says "no longer dealing in fanart", does that mean that fanart tags are not allowed, or does that mean that you can no longer order custom fanart? If the former, does this apply to fanart tags that have already been ordered prior to this rule? I have fanart tags (with permission from the artist, always) and quite a few standing orders for them.

I forget whether this was mentioned in Sas's or Elaine's post, but is there a limit on the number of regular (non-Hogsmeade) orders that a member can have delivered to them per week? If so, what is that limit?

Thanks!

[info]supremacy_born
2009-10-02 08:48 am UTC (link)
What Sas meant is that we have abolished custom fanart at [info]hh_flourish; we simply don't see the need to have that in the community anymore, and it is far more fitting to be posted in [info]hh_sugarquill. This has nothing to do with fanart signatures, so there's nothing to worry about.

There is no limit as to how many signatures you can deliver for one member during the week, except for the regular 75 tag delivery limit of course. All we can say is that it's appreciated that you spread out your orders, but how you handle them is up to your discretion as a shopkeeper. :)

Hi Eve and Jackie ^.^

I have a question regarding the Halloween theme. How broad are we going with that? I wondered if y'all could look at my catalog and let me know; I'm wondering if all the autumn tags would count as well? I personally associate autumn in general with Halloween, but your input would be appreciated so I don't end up botching the points.

Thanks guys!

No, I'm sorry; autumn tags do not count as Halloween signatures. What we mean by Halloween tags have to be specifically themed for that particular occasion; anything with witches in, dressing up (costumes, etc), pumpkins, any other things that are associated with Halloween goes. But autumn is an entire season that spans three months, and we can't count that as a Halloween theme. :) I hope that makes sense.

No, it's completely fine ^.^ I just wanted to make sure. I didn't really plan on counting them, but I just wanted to check. I didn't know if fallen leaves and other autumny things were being counted. While I'm here: would things like pumpkin pies and caramel apples count? I don't have anything like that at the moment, but was planning on doing some holiday cooking stuff.

Thanks Eve ^.^

I have noticed that ordering posts stock up, and I'm assuming, the shops do not gain 200 pages, the posts eventually become deleted. I was wondering, when we are allowed to delete the order posts? Do we need to wait for the end of the term, or we can do so as soon as the orders are fullfilled?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you referring to delivery posts or requests in the catalog post? You can delete request comments at any time. I delete mine as I go along to keep track of them.

As for delivery posts, we'd prefer to have people wait until the end of term in case we need to review a post for points.

Does that help?

Hey Jackie and Eve

I have a serious problem. I'm in the process of moving and therefore am using my phone to be be on the Internet. I wasjust checking a few things, and I got the evil 'your bandwidth has been exceeded' photobucket message. I can't get this fixed until my computer and Internet get set up at my new apartment. I don't necessarily need a hiatus, but I'm gonna need some time to get that sorted. I'm supposed to have my Internet by Saturday I believe. I have no idea about how to fix that though, so I may need some time. Thanks.

Hey guys. I'm kind of confused about how this community works...can you only order from your own house's shops? Can you only order graphics based on what the shop owner has in the catalog? I have something very specific in mind...do they do custom orders?

Thanks for any help you can give me. ;p

You can order from any of the shops that are currently in business (see the comm userinfo for the active shops)! Most of the shops display only what is available, but there are a few that do custom orders. If you poke around their catalogues, I'm sure you'll find one that suits your needs. :)

I have a question regarding theme tags that I was unsure about.

I currently have an animagus tag that fits both themes right now - its a custom tag for animagi at the animagus community and its abnormally shaped. So far I've only been counting it as 7 points, but I just realized that it fits both themes (XD) and I wanted to ask if it also counts for 8 points, instead of 7? Just wondering ;)

Thank you!

[info]easels

No, it'd still just be worth 7 points. A tag can only receive theme points for one of the themes, even if it fills the requirements of two. However, it will be worth theme points for longer, since the themes are replaced in alternating months. :)
